Community State Bank was founded in 1956 by a group of local businessman and has operated as a locally owned and independent bank ever since. We are located in the town of Paton, Iowa. Paton is a small community of approximately 255 people located in the northeast corner of Greene County, 70 miles northwest of Des Moines, Iowa. Community State Bank offers full service to the community of Paton and neighboring communities located in Greene, Boone, Webster, and Hamilton counties. We strive to provide a very personable and professional atmosphere to our clients.
In August 2026, Community State Bank proudly entered a new chapter with its acquisition by Barnes Bancorp, Inc., an Iowa-based bank holding company founded by Iowa native Harrison Barnes. With a shared commitment to community banking and building lasting relationships, Barnes Bancorp is dedicated to preserving the Bank’s longstanding traditions while investing in its future growth.
